Youth Ministries

The dynamic, growing Youth Program at Holy Shepherd is centered incorporates three primary facets to nurture those in grades six through twelve during their adolescent faith journey:  Christian education, mission, and fellowship.

Join us on our journey!

Growing

Confirmation and Sunday school classes are offered provide a solid foundation upon which our youth can grow into faithful men and women.  Designed primarily for 7th and 8th graders, the Confirmation program is a 2-year curriculum utilizing the “Colaborate” materials.  Small groups for both the Sunday school and Confirmation class facilitate the learning process and foster an environment for deepening relationships with each other and with Jesus.

Holy Shepherd youth participate in annual retreats sponsored by Youth Encounter.  Middle and High School students (along with their adult chaperones) are transformed by the experience!

Serving

Painting walls to help a community rebuild following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.  Serving meals to those in need of a warm supper and an even warmer smile.  Teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ using puppets during worship.  Fasting to raise money and collecting food to help combat world hunger.  These are just a few examples of how the youth of Holy Shepherd help serve our community, country, and world.  The Youth, along with the adult chaperones, grow closer to Jesus by serving our neighbors through participation in the ELCA National Youth Gathering, 30-Hour Famine, Hands to Heaven Puppeteers, and Shepherd’s Suppers.

Playing

Youth Groups for 5th – 8th grades and High School will begin in September.  The Youth also have a blast with special events such as Fall Festival, Wiffle Ball and Bags Tourneys, the 30-Hour Famine, and Vacation Bible School.
